The Reading Phillies are the Double-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies and play in the Eastern League of Professional Baseball. The 2002 season will be the R-Phils 36th consecutive season of affiliation with Philadelphia, the fourth longest in professional baseball. The 2002 season begins on April 4 and extends through Labor Day  with 71 home games played at beautiful FirstEnergy Stadium. Built in 1950, FirstEnergy Stadium has undergone extensive renovations that provide many of the conveniences of modern ballparks but still retains its old time charm that would be impossible to duplicate.
